Core
A meditation on the gap between the face a man wears and the human underneath. A Japanese gentleman in an immaculate dark suit sits inside a room of neon liquid; the camera pushes in, the screen blacks out, and a single whispered line opens the only question the film asks.
「人間でさ いったいなんだろう」
The film ends where it began. He turns his back to the camera, the neon drains to grey, and on the very last frame before black — he turns his head, and looks at you. The portrait was never of him.
